In John Quinn's work, Montauk Air Force Base he makes the claim that on the outside of the maintenance building in the park there is a GigaWatt meter located on it. Well, we may have very well found it, although due to the presence of workers in the area we were unable to even attempt to verify this for ourselves.
A gigawatt meter would be unheard of in this place, indeed I am not aware where one would be used outside of perhaps particle accelerator or some other rare type of equiptment that draws enormous amounts of power.
As you can see, the meter has a steel case in front of it, something else I have never seen. Are they hiding something? We did not find out because the space is considered closed to the public and there were quite a few workers around. |

The beast bunker. This is the same bunker that we originally were able to stick our hand through the carefully carved hole in the wall and take photographs of the inside. The hole is now patched up, as it was on bunker Dunn, the other main battery on the base. As a sidenote, these bunkers housed 16 inch artillery cannons, or guns. |

I did not intend to use the above photograph, my partner was standing in front of the bunker so that we could use his height as a reference to estimate how high the bunkers are. He doesnt want his picture shown here, so I put a grey box over him. By the way, the top of the reenforced concrete door is about 15 feet high. On the top picture someone had stood atop this and carved a rather vulgar message into the wall. It isn't visible in the picture because of the lighting. We then proceeded to head around to the rear of the bunker. Keep in mind, I am not just blowing wind here to waste space. It was in the rear of the bunker that I noticed something very subtle, yet quite odd. |

When I came into the clearing above it struck me. The weeds! In front of the beast bunker entrances and behind at least one, there were odd patches of tall weeds growing. Everything else about the base is immaculate, the landscapers are kept quite busy. Somebody I was in contact via e-mail told me to be on the look out for just this type of innocent looking, yet out of place occurrence. I checked to see if there were stones or a stump or anything that might explain why these areas were not being cut, and I could find none. Instead of calling it Camp Hero, perhaps they should consider renaming it "Camp Weirdo." We also found another area where the trees are falling over, perhaps a sign of ground contamination of some sort. |
