Above is a shot of the SAGE radar. I have taken it just for comparison purposes, as I have come across people who claim that the dish has moved over time. Unless it is being moved for short periods of time and then moved back into postion, which I highly doubt, I can safely say that the dish does not change position, or at least hasn't over the last two years. |
On a rather more mundane note, we got to explore a part of the base near the radar that was closed to us previously. Above is the so called "Planetary Circle" mentioned by Preston Nichols in his book. Just to be thorough we stood in the center of it, drove around it in circles, and as far as I know we did not time travel or see Al Bielek fall out of the sky! This was the boring part of our trip, so escuse me if I inject a little humor into my writing. In the background is the old bowling alley. We know this because we were not the only visitors to the area at the time. |

The man above who is pointing apparently worked at the base while it was still officially active. We know this because he was a bit boisterous, to put it mildly. He was showing the group he was with all the buildings and all the adventures he had there. It seems that he feels many of the people he worked with were either idiots or a-holes, a fact that, as I said was being broadcast throughout the entire area. In the picture above he was complaining that his commanding officer made him mow the lawn, just because he was drunk and did not dust his area properly. |
This was just another building in the area of the planetary circle. I am not sure what its significance was. It was just starting to rain, actually a heavy thunder shower passed through the vicinity, so we took shelter in the car for a while until it was over. |
