Below is the AT&T building. This building is inside the base and is reported on the Camp Hero Historical Society's web site as being closed. To say we were shocked when we came across this scene is an understatement. Then the 2 German Shepards chained outside the door started barking. We got out of there with all haste to say the least. The building has a microwave tower on top of it. At the historical site, it shows this building with no tower. We were in a rush so we didnt get it in this shot. But we did get a picture of it from the commisary which is located nearby at a higher elevation.
This is the microwave tower. This picture is blurry because I was using a camera that I had never used before. The kind with a hundred buttons on it, so some of the settings were wrong. But why is it there? Why was it rebuilt? There are many mysteries about Camp Hero.
This is a picture of the plane that was circling the base the first time we went there, it passed over the base at least a dozen times in the 3 hours we spent there. We were at the base at least twice as long on our second trip, however with the amount of time we spent wandering through the forest and the quicksand, we could not see the sky too much. But we could hear planes passing over regularly. This is the only picture that I have of this air craft, and so far through the effort of many people we have not been able to positively identify it. The plane is distinctive though, if you look closely at the wing tips you will see they are rounded
Hi rez close up of the plane.
