Let me introduce myself.  My name is Bob De Long.  I was stationed at Montauk AFS in 1962 to 1964.  I lived with my wife and children in Sag Harbor.  I have some photos of the "old" Montauk you may or may not be interested in.  I was the official base photographer as well as an AC&W operator in the large building beneath the antenna.  One of the buildings you depicted in your photos was the one that housed the hight finder antenna.  Most often called a radome.  I also have a photo of the entire garrison of men stationed there at the time Kennedy was assassinated.  Rest assured, the place was built like a small whaling or fishing village during the war.  The huge radar antenna was not part of the landscape in the 40's  But the immense gun emplacement bunkers were.  These housed guns that were equal to anything a battleship had on it.  Some were 12 inch and others were 16 inch.  Some of the pictures you showed in the 3rd visit were pictures of ammo bunkers.  and yes, 18 wheelers could go into them and turn around...  If I can send these photos to you let me know.  Your entire theory has intrigued the hell out of me.  Made the hair stand up on the back of my head.  So close, and yet so far!

Below is the ops room, in the inside of the tower. It was always dark and cave like in there.
