The above bunker is noteworthy for several reasons. First of all, we had travelled along a road and noticed a narrow overgrown footpath to one side. We decided to investigate, and as we travelled along we came to a hill. We saw what appeared to be some concrete structures on top of the hill, and once reaching the summit we realized we were atop another bunker. I dont know what the purpose of this bunker could have been, it was not for artillery and the entrance (pictured above) was much smaller than the artillery bunkers. Take a look at the center of the, now sealed, door.
Someone has been hard at work trying to get in. We checked thoroughly for spent bullets, as the gouge looked almost like someone had made it by shooting at the door, but we found none. As I said, most of the bunkers showed this type of damage, which is why I believe that the holes that did go through all the way were not there by design of the people who sealed the bunkers. There was another odd thing about this buner, and that was all of the trees surrounding it that were dead and uprooted. I counted at least 20 trees that had fallen over on this relatively small mound of earth, and it struck me as odd. Perhaps the structure underneath shifted, and damaged the roots of these rather large trees. Yet my impression is that perhaps there was some type of ground contamination, that killed the trees, and made the roots brittle so that when a strong wind came they fell over. As I said, it was odd and I felt it noteworthy enough to include here in my report.
The base was littered with structures like the one pictured below. They probably served as storage units, but they were everywhere. Most of them showed signs of being vandalized, like the bunkers. I suppose someone is trying to get inside the structures to ascertain the validity of the rumors and urban legends surrounding the base. My only suggestion to them is that they (should they read this) should concentrate their efforts at one place. I mean, if they are willing to risk being arrested and charged with tresspassing, vandalism, breaking and entering, destruction of state property etc.. at least concentrate on a single area and get the job done. ( I am saying this in the poorest attempt at humor, I do not advise anyone to do anything illegal. If you make a decision to do something illegal, like tresspassing, you should also be ready to face the possible consequences of your actions)
And you should know that there are state police housed on the base. We could many times hear a dog barking, and because on our first journeys we had heard the dogs barking at the building where we had seen the trucks, we decided to go back and have a peek. I am sure that the dog must be a K-9 dog, used for tracking individuals, and also acts as a guard dog should anyone approach the house. As you can see for yourself in the picture below, in front of the white truck there is a kennel with a dog house inside of it. Unfortunately the dog must have been napping, so I cannot say for certain if it was a K-9 or not. However, with the presence of the police there it is not illogical to assume that it is indeed.
