Finally, here is a shot of the radar tower. The dish has not moved since we went out there last April, but I did notice some rather large cracks in the side of the building. So it makes sense that this area will remain restricted when the camp opens. Yet, what are they waiting for? For it to fall apart? I imagine that it would be very costly to tear down the structure, so perhaps they are waiting for it to fall apart by itself. (Notice my poor attempt at humor) This is the same area that the power lines were leading into. I suppose the only way to do a complete report on this conspiracy, is to get underground beneath the radar tower itself. So in short, it is my opinion that there is a possibility that some small operations may be ongoing there.

New Power Lines
Strangely enough, there are brand new power lines running through the middle of the base. I am not a linesman, but it appears to me that these are high voltage lines. Maybe it means something, or maybe it means nothing. However, it seems that there are not alot of places that would require alot of power. And the lines run through the middle of the woods, through the back part of the base. I am sure it would be easier to run the lines along the highway leading to the base. By itself though, it is not damning evidence of subversive activity. Below is a picture of the power lines coming from the forest and going into the base.
High tension wires running ito the base through the rear of Camp Hero
This is one of the things that makes me wonder if there is activity ongoing clandestinely at the base. While the shot is not too clear, you will notice that the lines run off to the left further down. These lines were running into the command center-radar tower restricted area of the base. I have already established that there is likely a large complex underneath there, but if it is not being used, why are there brand new power lines running into the area? Its not solid proof, but it is suggestive. While we were hoping that we would see a reptoid, or perhaps Al Bielek falling out of the sky, this did give me pause to wonder. Another strange aspect were the state park personell working there. We were able to observe them from a distance, and to all intents and purposes they looked as though they could very well have been army corp of engineers. Brown t-shirts and camoflauge pants.

Power lines up the hill diverge into the seemingly unusable portion of the base.

Another new feature we had not encountered, until this last investigation, was the new gate at the front entrance to the base. It was locked, and can only be opened by punching in a code on the pad located just outside of the gate. Why these new security measures are being implemented now that the base is going to be opened is a mystery.

Radar tower with cracks visible
Notice there are cracks in the structure, located toward the upper center and right portion of the building. They are a bit difficult to make out in these pictures, but they are there. That would serve as the most likely reason for the area being closed. However, given the new security measures in place and the high tension power lines running into that dilapidated area, we cannot say with certainty that the operations have stopped completely.
