The Dream of Johanna Bravant
Towards the end of April, 1960 Johanna Bravant dreamt she was walking with her husband Rene, her brother in law Bernard and her sister Mina through the Swedish countryside. In her dream, they came upon a cattle trough that contained a womans dead body wearing one of Johannas dresses. She warned her dream companions to flee as she feared there was a murderer nearby, however Mina had disappeared. The next thing she remembers is standing on a bridge in between two other bridges, one to each side, and felt helplessly confused about which way to go. The next day she told her husband Rene and his waiter, remembering that she had given the dress to Mina previously. On May the 20th Bernard called to say that Mina had gone for a walk but had not returned for several hours.

Johanna stressed he should call the police. She was only too aware that Mina had been having marital problems and was taking anti-depressant drugs. Soon they began searching the surrounding area. Suddenly Johanna found herself standing on a bridge, with a bridge to her left and right. When they found no trace of Mina, and as the police had no leads, they went to Edgar Devaux, a dowser (one who finds underground water, usually with a pendulum or a wishbone shaped stick) with a reputation of being able to locate missing persons.

He swung his pendulum over a picture of Mina and declared she was dead, and in water. Then using the same method over a map, traced the place along the riverbank where Minas body was. The police were very skeptical, but divers began searching the area on May the 29th. They found the body where Devaux had indicated. Foul play was initially ruled out, it was thought she had just slipped into the river behind her home. At the mortuary Johanna identified her sister, in a large metal container like a cattle trough. There seems small doubt that Johanna foresaw her sisters death in her dream. Telling the dream to others before the events is a strong indicator of precognition, and the details go beyond coincidence. Devaux's success seems equally incredible.
